Bishop Dwenger wins SAC girls golf

JOURNAL GAZETTE

Bishop Dwenger dominated the SAC girls golf match at McMillen Park on Saturday with a 316.

Snider was second with a 362, while Wayne shot a 380 for third. 

The Saints' Sarah Frazier won medalist honors with a 70, while Bishop Luers' Madeline Pape was second with a 77. Snider's Kelsey Mathais (78) and Hannah Stine (79) were third and fourth.

Also for Dwenger, Taylor Martin had an 80, Nicole Hagen 82 and Brooke Kinder 84.

 

 

NORTHEAST EIGHT: The Barons shot a 340 at Cobblestone for the team championship. Huntington North (367) and Bellmont (382) were second and third.

DeKalb's Lexy Stuckey was the medalist with a 78, with teammate Sarah Williams in second with an 80.

ACAC: Heritage won the team title with a 404 at Celina Lynx in Ohio. South Adams was second with a 410.

The Patriots were led by Kate Buuck and Brittany May, who both shot 98. 

Southern Wells' Kaiti Gorrell won medalist honors with an 89, while teammate Georgia Hanauer was second with a 91. 

NECC: Angola won the team title with a 372 at South Shore. 

Lindsay Dornte and Maddie Herman each had a 91 to lead the Hornets.

Cross country

BRUIN INVITATIONAL: Concordia's Reece Gibson (16:07.2) was the boys individual winner, while Carroll's Zoe Duffus (18:28.0) won the girls race at Northrop.

Homestead won the girls team title 35-40 over runner-up Carroll. The Spartans were led by Julia Dvorak (second, 19:42.9) and Julia Eifert (fourth, 20:21.1). 

The top team spot for the boys went to Defiance (Ohio) with 40 points, ahead of Concordia's 53 and Snider's 70. 

The Panthers' Jesse Hamlin (16:20.5) was the boys runner-up.

Boys tennis

HOMESTEAD 4, AVON 1: David Heiney's 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles led the No. 4 Spartans against the home Orioles.

Bryant Zitlaw and William Milne won 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Volleyball

DELTA EXTRAVAGANZA: The Class 3A No. 1 Saints lost their first match of the season, falling against Yorktown 25-18, 25-20, 28-26. Ellen Ross had 10 kills.

Dwenger (11-1) also beat No. 5 Delta 25-22, 25-13, 25-18. Anna Burkhardt had 11 kills and 17 digs.
