Warsaw girls beat rival Homestead
New Class 3A sectional opponents faced off in girls soccer with Warsaw defeating Homestead 1-0.
With 15 minutes remaining in the second half, Anna Grill's shot went over the hands of the Homestead keeper from 20 yards out for the game-winner for the Tigers.
Blackhawk Christian boys soccer defeated Carroll 6-5 in a penalty shootout in the first round of the Carroll Classic.
The score was tied 1-1 after second-half goals from Blackhawk Christian's Michael Pulver in the 43rd minute and Carroll's Mang Sang in the 72nd minute.
In other Carroll Classic games, Northridge defeated Westview 2-0, Homestead advanced on PKs against North Side 1-1 (5-4) and Warsaw won against Bishop Luers 5-3.
South Adams volleyball beat Norwell 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-8). Julia Grabau had 29 assists and two aces for the Starfires, Madi Wurster had 17 kills, Shania Neal had 15 digs and Addie Wanner had five blocks.
Homestead girls golf defeated Carroll 158-202 at Chestnut Hills. Spartans' Emma Schroeder was medalist with a 2-over 38 while teammate Morgan Dabagia was one shot back with a 39. Jordan Galbreath led the Chargers with a 49.
