Pieri shoots 72, misses cut at US Senior Open


Scott Pieri, a Fort Wayne native and Snider alumni, improved on his first-round score by seven strokes, shooting a 2-over 72 and rising 27 spots on the leaderbord to a tie for 85th.

The 50-year-old Pieri, playing in his first U.S. Senior Open, finished at 11-over for the tournament and missed the cut by two strokes. In his second round, he started on the back nine and recorded his first birdie of the tournament on the par-three 16th hole. 

He finished his first nine holes in 2-over 36 and then had his best nine of the tournament on the front side, birdieing both the par-four sixth and the par-five ninth to finish with an even-par 36.

Pieri, who was a tour and club pro from 1991-2006, finished 16 strokes back of the lead.
