Warriors' Knapke wins NAIA honor
Indiana Tech senior forward Kendall Knapke was named the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America NAIA Women's Basketball Team Member of the Year, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Knapke becomes the first women's basketball player and just the third student-athlete from Tech to garner the prestigious honor, joining Wiebke Schlender (2017, at large) and Glen McClain (2017, baseball).
Heritage graduate sports a 4.0 GPA as an accounting major and was named the recipient of the 2018 Emil S. Liston Scholarship Award by the NAIA.
She was a first-team all-conference selection by the coaches in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in addition to garnering WHAC All-Academic Team honors and a spot on the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete list.
Knapke finished her season averaging 15.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals.
Also, Saint Francis junior forward Kara Gerka was named a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America.
She has a 4.0 GPA as a physician's assistant major. She averaged 15.2 points and 5.3 rebounds.
