Tech promotes jumps coach
Indiana Tech announced Austin Roark has been named a full-time assistant for the Warriors track and field program.
Roark, who has spent the last four years as jumps coach, is the program's first full-time assistant coach.
“This is a huge step forward for our program,” coach Doug Edgar said in a news release. “Austin has already been working full-time hours as a part-time coach, so this will be an easy transition for him.”
In his four years, Roark has coached 44 All-Americans. He has received U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors, Men's National Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2017 indoor season and Women's National Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2018 indoor season.
Prior to Indiana Tech, Roark was the jumps and sprints coach at Eastern (Greentown).
Also, Tech announced the upcoming cross country schedule Tuesday.
The Warriors will kick off their season Aug. 31 with the Gray and Orange Intrasquad Race at Kreager Park and, for the fourth straight year, the teams will travel to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the Knight Invitational to kick off the season Sept. 8.
Other races include Cedarville University (Sept. 15), Greater Louisville Classic (Sept. 29), Bethel (Oct. 5) and Mount Mercy (Oct. 20) with the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Meet Nov. 3 and NAIA National Championship on Nov. 16.
