Tech loses, faces elimination game
Top-seeded Faulkner (Ala.) scored seven runs in the first three innings and went on to a 7-2 victory Tuesday over Indiana Tech in the Opening Round of the NAIA baseball tournament in Montgomery, Alabama.
The third-seeded Warriors (43-20 overall, 1-1 tournament), who won Monday, will play at noon today against No. 2 seed Webber International (Fla.) in an elimination game.
Faulkner (52-7) scored two runs in the first, four in the second and one in the third.
Six of the runs were off Indiana Tech starter Nate McBroom (7-4), who gave up six hits and a walk to the 11 Faulkner batters he faced.
Reliever Brandon Hillier gave up an RBI double to the first batter he faced and allowed a run in the third on a home run by Jacob Freeland.
Hillier ended up pitching 61/3 innings and gave up eight hits and one run.
Warriors shortstop Dante Biagini went 4 for 4 and drove in both Indiana Tech runs.
He singled home Bobby Bennett in the second inning, and in the ninth inning, his two-out RBI single made it 7-2.
But the Warriors' rally ended when Matt Bandor grounded out with the bases loaded.
