Scott, Harrell lead Mastodons

DENVER — Bryson Scott and Kason Harrell combined to score 38 points and IPFW beat Denver on the Pioneers' home court for the fourth time in five games Saturday, posting an 82-63 Summit League victory.

The Mastodons now have won six of their last eight.

Scott hit a jumper, Matt Weir converted a layup and Dylan Carl dunked and nailed a 3 in a 9-0 run that started barely two minutes into the game and vaulted IPFW (12-7, 1-1) into a 13-6 lead it never relinquished. By halftime the Mastodons held a 10-point lead and after John Konchar dunked with 6:40 remaining it reached 21 points.

Scott finished with 20 points for his 24th career 20-point game. Harrell hit 4 of 9 from deep to finish with 18 while Carl and Konchar added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Joe Rosqa scored 18 points to lead Denver (6-12, 0-2).

BUFFALO 83, BALL STATE 63: In Muncie, Jayvon Graves and Jeremy Harris scored 16 apiece and combined to hit seven 3-pointers as the Bulls snapped the Cardinals' nine-game win streak.

Nick Perkins finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double and CJ Massinburg added 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Bulls (10-5, 2-0 Mid-American Conference).

Sean Sellers had 17 points and Trey Moses added 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for Ball State (10-5, 1-1). The Cardinals, the two-time defending West Division champions, shot just 36.5 percent from the floor and lost for the first time in nine home games this year.

DRAKE 75, INDIANA STATE 72: In Terre Haute, Reed Timmer scored 10 of his 18 points in the final 5 1/2 minutes, including a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining to lift the Bulldogs.

De'Antae McMurray scored 18 of his 25 points in the first half and the Bulldogs (10-7, 4-0 Missouri Valley Conference) led 39-29 at intermission. Brenton Scott, a Northrop graduate, tied his season high with 25 points and set a career high with seven steals for the Sycamores (7-9, 2-2).

EVANSVILLE 68, BRADLEY 44: In Evansville, Ryan Taylor hit four 3-pointers and scored 21 and Dru Smith had 14 points and six assists to lead the Purple Aces.

Blake Simmons chipped in with 12 points, five assists and three steals for Evansville (11-6, 1-3 Missouri Valley Conference), which shot 49 percent from the floor, made 8 of 15 from 3-point range and made all 10 of its free throws. Donte Thomas topped the Braves (12-5, 2-2) with 12 points.

VALPARAISO 83, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 72: In Valparaiso, Max Joseph and Jaume Sorolla scored 17 points apiece, both career highs, to lead the Crusaders.

Bakari Evelyn hit 4 of 5 3-pointers and added 14 points for the Crusaders (10-7, 1-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Markus Golder added 13 and Derrik Smits 11.

Armon Fletcher had a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds for the Huskies (10-7, 2-2) and Kavion Pippen scored 14 points.
