Bullpen

Fort Wayne closer: RH Hansel Rodriguez 7-9, 3.80 ERA, 10 saves

Quad Cities closer: RH Robert Corniel 1-0, 5.08 ERA, one save

By the numbers: Fort Wayne is 16-10 in one-run games since the All-Star break. ... Javier had a 1.01 ERA in his final five starts of the regular season. ... The TinCaps are 21-27 against left-handed starters this year. ... Quad Cities walked more batters than any team in the league this year. ... The River Bandits won the season series 2-1, outscoring Fort Wayne 20-12.

Breakdown: In the TinCaps' three games at Quad Cities (May 2-4), Russ Steinhorn, the River Bandits' manager, came away impressed with Fort Wayne. “I remember talking to people back then that if they got it going, they'd be a tough team to beat,” Steinhorn told the Quad-City Times. “We've been watching them, figuring they would be there at the end, too.” Baseball is difficult to predict, but maybe the TinCaps are simply the team of destiny.

Prediction: Fort Wayne in five
