'News fatigue' grips more of us

President Donald Trump might be tired of “fake news,” but Americans overall are tired of all news, according to a recent survey.

Pew Research Center found nearly seven of 10 respondents said they are “worn out by the amount of news.” Among the respondents who identified as Republican, 77 percent said they are overwhelmed by the amount of news.

Interestingly, the survey found the frustration with too much news was greater among those who follow it the least: “While a majority of those who follow the news most of the time (62 percent) are feeling worn out by the news, a substantially higher portion (78 percent) of those who less frequently get news say they are fatigued by the amount of it that they see.”

The frustration is notably higher for white Americans – 73 percent – than for black or Hispanic Americans, each at 55 percent.
