Leo principal gets petitioned

Originator claims brother wronged

ASHLEY SLOBODA | The Journal Gazette

East Allen County Schools is not commenting on an online petition urging the superintendent to remove the Leo Junior-Senior High School principal, spokeswoman Tamyra Kelly wrote in an email Wednesday.

Titled “Make Leo great again!,” the petition lodges allegations against Principal Neal Brown III in connection with a situation involving the author's brother, his class credits and participation on a sports team.

The petition claims the student got an “unjust and unfair ruling” and that others have, too.

It also mentions athletic director Brock Rohrbacher, but does not call for his removal.

The petition has generated numerous comments and complaints from parents and alumni, many of whom shared personal stories about Brown and why they dislike or disrespect him.

Brown has worked for EACS for more than 30 years. He was hired in 1981 to teach physical education and coach football and boys track at Harding High School. He later became principal at Village Woods Middle School and Harding before moving on to Leo.

The petition's author, Sydney Blake, addressed the document to Superintendent Marilyn Hissong.
