Coroner: Stabbing killed woman

JAMIE DUFFY | The Journal Gazette

A 75-year-old Fort Wayne woman was identified as the victim of a stabbing on the city's northwest side.

Sally Ann Duncan-Sanders died from multiple stab wounds, and her death was a homicide, the Allen County coroner's office said in a statement Wednesday following an autopsy.

She was stabbed Tuesday about 5:30 p.m. Hers is the seventh homicide in Allen County this year.

Fort Wayne police and medics were called Tuesday to a home at 3020 Lincolndale Ave. – near Interstate 69, Goshen Road and Coliseum Boulevard – because of a medical event, investigators said, and found the woman's body covered in blood.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified said she didn't know the woman well. But she was “very nice,” and the neighbor said the woman had lived in the home for about three years with her husband and at times, her grandson also lived there.

Duncan-Sanders worked at a nearby hotel on Coliseum, the neighbor said.

The neighborhood tucked behind industrial sites on Coliseum West is quiet, hidden from the roar of the highways. Outside the home, a lilac bush was in full bloom and a red sedan – the victim's car, according to the neighbor – sat in the driveway.

“I can't believe it,” the neighbor said. “I still can't believe it.”
