Two men, including one from Fort Wayne, have been arrested in the slaying of an Indianapolis man in Wabash County last year, Indiana State Police said Tuesday.
Jose Guadelupe Maya-Sandoval, 36, of Fort Wayne and Gerardo Ruiz-Aviles, 33, of Indianapolis, each were arrested and charged with one count of murder, state police at Peru said.
Police said Alexis Serrano's body was found in a wooded area of the Frances Slocum State Forest on June 28, near Wabash County roads 1100 South and 450 West, by people in the area who were fishing. Serrano was reported missing to Indianapolis police on June 6.
Detectives issued warrants for the two men after an investigation, state police said.
Maya-Sandoval was arrested Friday during a traffic stop near his home in Fort Wayne. He was in the Allen County Jail awaiting transport to Wabash County, police said.
They said Ruiz-Aviles was served an warrant at the New Castle Correctional Facility where he was being held on unrelated charges.
