Three people were in critical condition in two separate shootings Sunday.

Fort Wayne police were called about 11:15 a.m. to the 4500 block of South Park Drive in reference to a shooting and found a woman and 5-year-old boy with single gunshot wounds inside a residence, police said.

Paramedics took the victims to a hospital in serious condition, but both were downgraded to critical by a doctor, police said in a statement.

The shootings may have been accidental, according to the release, and detectives were interviewing witnesses inside the residence when the incident occurred.

Later, just after 3:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of East Paulding Road at the Parkbridge Estates mobile home community.

When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Mark Bieker, public information officer.

The victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition but was downgraded to critical.

Investigators were interviewing multiple witnesses.

The victim apparently knocked on a neighbor's door, though police said they were unsure of where the actual shooting took place.

Both shootings remain under investigation.
