Police encircle home, robbery suspect caught later

Police surrounded a downtown home Wednesday looking for a robbery suspect but found no one inside.

This morning, however, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman Michael Joyner said officers captured the person Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m.

Eddrell Duane Scott, 31, is charged with a level 3 felony of armed robbery and with resisting arrest.

A SWAT team and other police officers converged about 3 p.m. at a house in the 400 block of West Brackenridge Street after receiving a tip that one of two suspects in a recent south-side liquor store robbery was inside.

The apartment was a block from Parkview Field and across from CityScape Flats townhouses.

Detectives believed the tip was credible, Joyner said.

He said the tip was received after Fort Wayne police released images from security footage of an armed robbery last week at Belmont Beverage, 1414 E. Tillman Road.

A witness at the scene said he's a neighbor and that a suspect did live in an apartment in the house.

Upon entering the home, police found the suspect was gone.

While Scott is in custody, a news release this morning did not mention the other suspect.
