I-69 ramp in Steuben shut for milk spill

An entrance ramp to Interstate 69 in Steuben County was closed for about two hours Friday after a semi hauling a milk product rolled over, police said.

The driver, Jeremiah L. Bowman, 35, of Rodney, Michigan, was driving on the ramp when the load shifted, causing the tanker to roll over.

He was pinned for about an hour and had to be extricated by the Angola Fire Department. He was taken by helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Inmate on work release disappears

Authorities in Noble County are looking for a woman who walked away from the county Community Corrections Work Release Program on Thursday.

Kayla Preston, 24, left the Noble County jail for work at Busche Enterprise in Kendallville.

Preston is 5 foot 3, white with blue eyes and brown hair and about 148 pounds. She was last seen driving a red 2010 Ford Taurus with a personalized plate of WABIKA.
