Journal Gazette

Indiana State Police are seeking the public's help in finding the owner of a spare tire that came loose from its trailer and went through the windshield of a semi, badly injuring the driver.

At 2:40 p.m. Saturday, John A. Green, 58, of Zionsville was driving a semi north on Interstate 69 near mile marker 292 just south of the General Motors plant.

A spare tire came across the median from the southbound lanes, struck the semi's windshield and entered the cab. The tire hit Green and ended up on the passenger side of the cab, state police said.

Green was taken to Lutheran Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Anyone who may have seen the crash or has any information about the owner of the tire is asked to call the Indiana State Police at 260-432-8661 or 800-552-0976.
