JAMIE DUFFY | The Journal Gazette

A Steuben County man is facing several drug charges after a traffic stop late Tuesday.

Matthew Wayne Friedel, 28, was stopped about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 700 North near Howe. While speaking with Friedel, a state trooper smelled marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle, Indiana State Police said.

The trooper found Friedel in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, two drug syringes, a meth pipe and more than $1,800 cash. He also had an arrest warrant out of Allen County for dealing meth, police said.

He was taken into custody at the LaGrange County Jail. He is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, possession of meth, marijuana possession, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
