Light snowfall leads to central Indiana vehicle crashes

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS – A light snowfall caught central Indiana motorists unprepared, leading to multiple crashes and some temporary road closures.

Indianapolis television stations reported southbound lanes of Interstate 65 were closed in two separate locations Sunday afternoon, on the north side of Indianapolis and in Boone County north of Lebanon.

Police in the Hamilton County city of Westfield reported southbound U.S. 31 was closed Sunday at the intersection with Indiana 38 because of a crash.

Crashes were reported on interstates throughout the Indianapolis area.

The National Weather Service reported less than 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) of snow had fallen by noon Sunday.
