Donnelly, Banks, Walorski back airstrikes

Three members of Congress representing northeast Indiana said Friday night that they support President Donald Trump's decision to order U.S. missile strikes against the Syrian government to rebuke its April 7 chemical attack on civilians – with one of them calling on the White House to spell out its plans for dealing with Syria's civil war.
Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., said in a statement: “The recent chemical weapons attack was the latest in a series of barbaric actions by the Assad regime. I support tonight's international military response, which demonstrates that there are consequences for using chemical weapons on innocent civilians.”
Donnelly, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, also said, “Now, I want to hear from the president, the military, and our diplomatic leaders on the strategy moving forward.”
Rep. Jim Banks, R-3rd, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said in a statement that Trump “laid out clearly why the United States must respond to the repeated use of horrific chemical weapons by the Assad regime. I support the President's decision to authorize targeted action in conjunction with our allies in Great Britain and France.”
Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-2nd, said in a statement that “U.S. military action alongside our allies is a necessary and decisive response to the Assad regime's repeated use of chemical weapons against its own people. Such atrocities will not be tolerated.”
