US attorney to release new info about post office bombing
HAMMOND, Ind. – The federal prosecutor in northwestern Indiana is planning to release more information on a pipe bomb that exploded last month at a post office.
The office of U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch II says he'll hold a news conference Thursday afternoon to provide an update into the Sept. 6 explosion in East Chicago. A postal worker suffered minor injuries in the explosion.
The FBI two weeks ago released a sketch and description of a person of interest in the case.
The mayor of neighboring Hammond, Thomas McDermott Jr., said last week that the pipe bomb was believed to have been intended for a city contractor. He said a city worker received a bulky package containing threats in a separate incident. McDermott said he had spoken to the FBI about the threats.
