Dollar store robber gets 11 years
MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette
A Fort Wayne man was ordered to spend more than 11 years in federal prison for robbing a Dollar General store twice.
Latwon Ford, 25, robbed the Dollar General store in Leo in June 2015 and again in January 2016. Police arrested Ford after the 2016 robbery, when he was holding a loaded handgun.
Chief Judge Theresa Springmann sentenced him last week in U.S. District Court in Fort Wayne to 135 months in prison on charges of obstructing and interfering with interstate commerce by robbery and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.
Drug dealer from Mexico sentenced
A Mexican man was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison for distributing heroin and methamphetamine in Allen County in 2015.
Court documents say Israel Bonilla, 32, of Michoacan, Mexico, and two other men worked to distribute the drugs inside an unidentified home in Allen County.
Police found drugs, guns and paraphernalia in a raid in October 2015.
Bonilla was ordered last week to spend 147 months in federal prison by Chief Judge Theresa Springmann in U.S. District Court in Fort Wayne.
He was charged with possessing methamphetamine and heroin with the intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
