Pasztor accepts court's naming public defenders
FRANK GRAY | The Journal Gazette
Amber Pasztor, charged in Allen County with killing a neighbor, Frank Macomber, 66, in September of 2016, was appointed two public defenders Thursday in Allen Superior Court.
Pasztor, who earlier pleaded guilty in Elkhart County to killing two of her children after she abducted them from her parents' home, had said in a court hearing Monday that she wanted to represent herself and plead guilty. The judge denied that.
Thursday, Pasztor agreed to accept legal representation.
The court Thursday also ordered results of a psychiatric evaluation already conducted in Elkhart County be submitted to the local court. The court in Allen County has not ordered any psychiatric evaluation of Pasztor.
Pasztor allegedly killed Macomber so she could use his car, then abducted her children and smothered them. Authorities say Pasztor then went to police in Elkhart and told them her dead children were in the car.
