122nd names 1st honorary leaders

The Air National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing will introduce its inaugural group of honorary commanders during an assumption of command ceremony this morning at the base.

The Honorary Commander Program provides base commanders with a means to educate participants on the missions of the 122nd Fighter Wing.

Honorary commanders were chosen based on their field of expertise.

The 122nd Fighter Wing honorary commander is Michael Gouloff of Elevatus Architecture. Other honorary commanders are Allen Superior Court Judge Wendy Davis, Mission Support Group; Curtis Smith of Parkview Health, Medical Group; John Thomas of WaterFurnace International, Maintenance Group; and Steve Swick of Local Radio Networks, Operations Group. Each will serve a two-year term.

Dupont in pink for breast cancer

Dupont Hospital is being illuminated by pink lighting at night during October to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a spokesman said Thursday.

Pink and white balloons have also been added around the campus, which is bordered on two sides by Auburn and Dupont roads.

311 center begins Saturday hours

Fort Wayne's 311 Call Center will now be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays with two people taking calls from the public.

The center can be reached by calling 311 within the city limits or at 427-8311.

Current plans call for the new Saturday hours to run through Dec. 15.

The call center will be closed Nov. 22-24 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Residents are also encouraged to go to www.cityoffortwayne.org and click on the 311 icon to download the 311 mobile app as another way to communicate with the city.

Meeting set for disabilities group

The next meeting of the Task Force for Assessment of Services & Supports for People with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in Columbia City.

The meeting, at the Peabody Public Library, 1160 E. Indiana 205, is open to the public and will be streamed live at IN.gov/fssa/ddrs/5455.htm.

Public comment will occur at the beginning of the meeting so the task force can receive input regarding services and supports for people with disabilities.

Requests for accommodations should be made by contacting Kristina Blankenship at Kristina.Blankenship@fssa.IN.gov at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
