The Fort Wayne Urban League will be the host site for a local End Gun Violence gathering Sept. 24.

The initiative is part of the national Concert Across America to End Gun Violence, a Wednesday news release said. The event will be 4 to 6 p.m. at the Urban League, 2135 S. Hanna St., and the public is invited.

A memorial to remember each person who died from gun violence since 2012 in Fort Wayne will be part of the event, along with family members who have lost relatives to the violence sharing their stories.

Other activities include prayers from the faith community and a showcase of local music videos.

Individuals and organizations are invited to create 2-minute videos before the event. The chosen song for those is “Nothing More” by the Alternate Routes.

Ty Causey, a well-known producer, singer and songwriter from Fort Wayne, is also scheduled to participate.

Organizers plan a call to action for legislators and the community to help end gun violence locally and nationally.

Although the event is free, those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP at concertacrossamerica.eventbrite.com. Ruby Cain, one of the planners, said in an email it will help with space planning and for materials that may be distributed.
