58 homes proposed on Tonkel

Rezoning sought for 8 acres

ROSA SALTER RODRIGUEZ | The Journal Gazette

Fifty-eight more homes are proposed to spring up in the fast-growing territory north of Parkview Regional Medical Center, according to applications that will have a public hearing next week before the Allen County Plan Commission.

Called Copper Horse, the development at 100305 and 100309 Tonkel Road in Perry Township is a project of Matt Lancia Signature Homes of Fort Wayne.

The homes are designed as 15 multi-unit townhouse blocks of two, three, four and five condominium homes each. The homes are laid out on a single main access street from Tonkel Road with two spur streets and a cul-de-sac.

A natural pond surrounded by green space is shown on the plans. Homes have around 1,550 to 1,850 square feet of space.

Copper Horse is just north of Oak Crossing and south of Cedar Springs housing developments. Surrounding land is either zoned single-family residential or agricultural.

A rezoning of just under 8 acres from agricultural to multiple family residential is sought. Approval of the primary development plan is also requested.

The hearing will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday in Room 30 of Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St.
