Fort Wayne Philharmonic brings its “Holiday Pops” to Embassy Theatre tonight, Saturday and Dec. 15.
This year's production includes the Fort Wayne Children's Choir and the Fort Wayne Holiday Pops Chorale. Vocalist Lisa Vroman from Broadway's “The Phantom of the Opera” will join the Philharmonic for the five local shows. Philharmonic assistant conductor Caleb Young presides over the shows.
The program includes traditional music, elements of popular culture, dancing, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, a carol sing-along and the “Hallelujah” Chorus from Handel's “Messiah.”
The Philharmonic's Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Benjamin Rivera, will perform “Messiah” in “Messiah by Candlelight” shows Thursday and Dec. 14 at First Wayne United Methodist Church. The orchestra will be joined by vocalists including the Philharmonic Chorus.
The “Holiday Pops” show will go on the road to Angola on Sunday, Columbia City on Dec. 16, Albion on Dec. 18, Wabash on Dec. 19 and Berne on Dec. 20. Go to FWPhil.org for more information on those shows, which have a different vocal lineup.
