University of Saint Francis' new concert band will perform a show for the first time Thursday in a joint engagement with the University Singers choir.

Saint Francis has been growing its band program, which included the launch of a marching band last year. The concert band has 30 to 35 members including students, faculty and staff, director of bands Steven Kandow says.

“It gives our students a chance to play together,” he says. “But also gives faculty outside the music department a chance to interact with our students as well.”

The spring concert's theme is “Americana and More.” The choir will perform several spirituals and the band's portion of the show will include a medley of the U.S. armed forces anthems. Together, the groups will present a medley called “Songs From the American Revolution.”

The show will be opened with a routine by the university's new winter color guard program.
