Watching Oscar nominees at home

• Cinema Center will have an Oscars trivia night Friday for teams of six or fewer players. The free event will feature seven rounds of trivia.

• Cinema Center will show the Academy Award-nominated live action and animated short films in blocks beginning Friday.

• Regal Entertainment Group, which operates the theater at Coldwater Crossing, will have its Regal Best Picture Film Festival featuring all the best picture nominees from Feb. 23 to March 4. Passes will give access to all nine movies for $35. The passes are available now on Regal's mobile app.

From World War II epics to soaring superheroes and dramatic documentaries, Oscar season is upon us. While many nominees are still playing in theaters, you can watch some of them from the comfort of your couch thanks to home video and streaming options.

The list below includes many of the places you can watch, rent or buy the Academy Awards hopefuls. Release dates are listed with movies that will become available before the Academy Awards ceremony March 4.

You can also check which movies your cable provider offers for rent and purchase. The Allen County Public Library has some Oscar nominees available to borrow, but you might need some luck to find the major nominees on the shelf this time of year.
