Judge to remain on Mill case

Associated Press

Pennsylvania's highest court won't remove a judge from Meek Mill's long-running criminal case, though one justice said in Tuesday's decision that the rapper can raise the issue again after a hearing next week.

Mill's lawyers have been leveling harsh criticism at Philadelphia Judge Genece Brinkley for months. They argue that Brinkley has made inappropriate comments about Mill in and out of court, acting more like a prosecutor than an impartial jurist.

In November, Brinkley ordered Mill to spend two to four years in prison for violating probation from an old conviction on drug and weapons charges. He spent five months behind bars before the Supreme Court ordered Brinkley to release him on unsecured bail.

$2 billion Avengers

The supersized superhero hit “Avengers: Infinity War” has crossed $2 billion in worldwide ticket sales, becoming only the fourth film to reach that rarefied box-office milestone.

The Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that “Infinity War” reached the mark Monday, about seven weeks after opening. The only other movies in the $2 billion club are “Avatar,” “Titanic” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

“Infinity War” currently ranks as the fifth highest-grossing film in the U.S. and Canada with $656.1 million thus far. Its $257.7 million domestic opening weekend set a record. The Marvel release has done just as well overseas. In China, the film's $369.7 million gross to date ranks third all time.

McGowan indicted

A grand jury in Virginia has indicted actress and activist Rose McGowan on one felony count of cocaine possession.

News outlets report the panel handed down the indictment Monday.

Charging documents say cocaine was found in a wallet McGowan left behind on a plane last year. McGowan has maintained the cocaine isn't hers and has suggested in court papers that the drugs were planted.
