U2 to play lone show at Apollo
U2 will put on a special one-night show at New York's historic Apollo Theater.
Howard Stern on Tuesday announced the invitation-only event for SiriusXM subscribers during his show on the satellite music service.
The company says U2 will play songs from its “Songs of Experience” album along with classics from its career.
Bono calls it a bucket-list moment and says it's “an incredible honor” to play on the same stage in Harlem that has hosted the legends of soul.
SiriusXM subscribers can win tickets to the June 11 performance through an invitation sent by email.
Researchers using digital photo editing techniques have managed to read the text on two pages from Anne Frank's world famous wartime diary that the teenager had covered with brown masking paper, revealing risque jokes and an explanation of sex and prostitution.
The Anne Frank Foundation announced the discovery Tuesday, saying it helps to explain her adolescent interest in sexuality.
Anne Frank House museum executive director Ronald Leopold, says that “like every adolescent she is curious about this subject,” adding that Anne wrote about the subject elsewhere in diary pages that already have been published.
Jason Isbell leads the nominees for the Americana Music Association's Honors and Awards with nominations in four categories, thanks to his critically acclaimed album “The Nashville Sound,” which earned him two Grammy Awards earlier this year.
Also among the nominations announced Tuesday are country singer Margo Price and folk singer Brandi Carlile, who are each nominated for artist, song and album of the year.
Also nominated for artist of the year is folk singer-songwriter John Prine. Mary Gauthier earned a nomination for album of the year for her veteran inspired record “Rifles & Rosary Beads.”
The 17th annual awards show will be held on Sept. 12 in Nashville, Tennessee.
