Emmys announce presenters

Associated Press

CBS says Oprah Winfrey, Alec Baldwin and Jim Parsons are among the stars who will be handing out trophies at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Other presenters include Riz Ahmed, Anthony Anderson, Jason Bateman, Jessica Biel and Edie Falco; Anna Faris, Allison Janney, Rashida Jones, Nicole Kidman, Debra Messing and Lea Michele.

Rounding out this first roster of presenters, announced Wednesday, are Shemar Moore, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracee Ellis Ross, Adam Scott and Reese Witherspoon. More presenters will be announced later.

Stephen Colbert will host the Emmys, to air live on CBS at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17.

CMT relief efforts

This year, CMT will use its annual Artists of the Year event to highlight Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts while also recognizing the biggest artists in country music.

CMT announced Wednesday that Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan will be honored Oct. 18 in Nashville, Tennessee, with special performances from other artists that will be announced later.

The live television special will also honor those impacted by the hurricane that hit Texas, and artists will be encouraging fans to support relief efforts.

Unity show planned

The Dave Matthews Band, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Ariana Grande will be among the performers at a free unity concert in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month.

A news release from the University of Virginia says the Dave Matthews Band, which got its start in Charlottesville, came up with the idea following violent demonstrations by white nationalists last month. The release says the Sept. 24 event at UVA's Scott Stadium is intended to energize and uplift the community.

Tickets are free, but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to a charity fund whose beneficiaries will include victims of the August violence and first responders.
