Giving back

• SDI LaFarga conducted its annual food drive to benefit Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County. Employees at Superior Aluminum Alloys and Iron Dynamics, both subsidiaries of Steel Dynamics, helped collect 52,128 pounds of food. Reilly Trucking provided the freight for free and food was also donated from a Campbell's Soup factory.

• Visiting Nurse, a nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider, is seeking volunteers to help with a variety of roles serving patients. Volunteer interviews will be April 11, 18 and 25 from 3 to 4 p.m. To volunteer or for more information, call Ann Blue at 435-3222 or email annblue@vnfw.org.

Weather class set

The Adams County EMA and LEPC boards will have a National Weather Service weather spotter class at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Adams Memorial Hospital, in the Decatur rooms, 1100 Mercer Ave., Decatur. Registration begins at 6 p.m.

Hometown hero

The 2019 Fort Wayne Air Show, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, is seeking nominations for a hometown hero who will be honored by the Thunderbirds for a potential ride in an F-16 Fighting Falcon. Submission deadline is March 31. To submit a nominee, email info@fwairshow.com.
