Pastor named

First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road, named Rob Haslett as its lead pastor. Haslett succeeds Ron Hawkins, who has served as the church's lead pastor for 28 years. Haslett will be recognized as the lead pastor during the 9 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday. In addition, the church will observe services of consecration at 9 and 10:45 a.m. March 10 with Don Gifford, superintendent of the Indiana Assemblies of God, presiding.

Ash services

Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 N. Seminary St., Roanoke, will host Ash Wednesday services at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The speaker will be the Rev. Joel Yeager of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church and participants from Christ's United Methodist Church, Zion United Methodist Church and Roanoke Brethren Church will help lead worship.


Financial Peace University classes will be at the following churches: Calvary United Methodist Church, 6301 Winchester Road, beginning Sunday at 2 p.m.; and Adult Life Training at Abundant Life, 3301 Coliseum Blvd. E., beginning Monday at 7 p.m. For more information, go to
