Special events

• Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 W. Berry St., will have a special prayer service for the victims and families of the Las Vegas mass shooting at 5 p.m. Sunday.

• Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, will have a rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. A $2 bag sale begins at 1 p.m.

• Trier Ridge Community Church, 7501 Hessen Cassel Road, will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 14. A $3 bag sale will be Saturday morning.

Lectures/classes

• University of Saint Francis, 2701 Spring St., will have the lecture, “The Message of Fatima: Then and Now” by assistant professor Sister Jacinta Krecek, at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Brookside Ballroom. The lecture is free.

• Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University will host “6:15,” a free ministry talk at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Wayne Education Center, 8211 W. Jefferson Blvd. To RSVP, email wesley@indwes.edu or call 765-677-3467.

Grant awarded

Dunfee Missionary Church and the Rev. Dennis Rowe have received a 2017 Lilly Clergy Renewal Grant for $48,600. The money will be used for Rowe to explore the history and locales of Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands on the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
