Homestead girls rally past South Side
In a matchup of undefeated teams in SAC play, the South Side girls (11-5, 5-1 SAC) gave No. 5 Homestead a battle, but Ayanna Patterson scored 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the host Spartans (18-2, 7-0) to a 48-33 win.
South Side led 23-18 at halftime, but Homestead dominated the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 20-2 to secure the Spartans' fourth straight win. Jaci Jones had 15 points for the Archers, who lost to Homestead for the second time in a week.
BISHOP DWENGER 64, CARROLL 60: At Carroll, Carissa Wiegman had a game-high 20 points and Molly Ream added 15 for the victorious Saints (9-7, 4-3 SAC), who trailed by four entering the fourth quarter.
BISHOP LUERS 36, CONCORDIA 34: At Concordia, Carissa Garcia scored eight points for the Cadets (13-4, 4-2 SAC), but Janaiya Bright led the Knights (8-6, 4-2) with 12 points to pull the road upset.
FREMONT 48, CHURUBUSCO 38: At Churubusco, Bella Dangerfield had nine points and eight rebounds for Fremont (9-5) and Jada Rhonehouse had 11 points. Myah Bear had 12 points for Churubusco (3-12), but her team turned the ball over 25 times.
HERITAGE 47, ADAMS CENTRAL 35: At Heritage, Taylor Zelt led all scorers with 15 points for the Patriots (12-4) and Navaeh Feasby chipped in 14. Keri Sheets had 13 for Adams Central (10-7).
DEKALB 42, NEW HAVEN 35: At DeKalb, the Barons (1-16) picked up their first win of the season despite Kayla Williams' 10 points for the Bulldogs (3-14).
BELLMONT 56, COLUMBIA CITY 54: At Bellmont, Aaron Lehrman and Kade Fuelling had 16 points each for Bellmont (8-3). Columbia City's Mitchell Wilson led all scorers with 24 points, but was unable to put the Eagles (4-8) over the top.
WARSAW 67, NORTHRIDGE 56: At Warsaw, Trevor Rumple led the Tigers (7-4) with 18 points and Wyatt Amiss added 17. The Tigers shot 62 percent on 3s and are 4-0 at home.
CARROLL 47, BISHOP DWENGER 27: At Carroll, David Ejah led all scorers with 20 points and added eight rebounds for the Chargers (6-4, 3-1 SAC). Matt Kochanski had 15 of his team's 27 points, but the Saints (5-3, 1-2) shot just 24 percent.
WESTVIEW 91, HAMILTON 50: At Hamilton, Charlie Yoder went over 1,000 points for his career and finished with 21 in the game and teammate Elijah Hales had 19 for the Warriors (8-4).
CHURUBUSCO 73, FREMONT 49: Host Churubusco (7-5) won its fourth straight game behind 20 points and 10 rebounds from Brayton Bonar and 14 points, six assists, six rebounds and five steals for Jackson Paul.
