Dwenger volleyball takes second consecutive SAC title

ELIZABETH WYMAN | The Journal Gazette

It's almost always guaranteed a Bishop Dwenger-Concordia volleyball match will be exciting – and go to five sets.

In the final regular season match for Dwenger and second to last for Concordia, the Saints won 3-2, giving them the SAC title for the second straight year.

Concordia (24-7) stole the first set from Dwenger 25-16, but the Saints (28-2) took the second set 25-20. Extra points were needed in the third set as the Cadets took the match lead with 31-29 win. Concordia couldn't finish it out though as Dwenger took the fourth and fifth sets 25-18, 15-11.

The match was reminiscent of the SAC Preseason tournament championship where the Saints also won in a five-set thriller.

Taya Dazey led the Saints with 15 kills. Delaney Hogan added 14. Dazey also added four blocks to lead the Saints. Alyssa Henline led the Cadets with 14 kills. Cleasia Craig led the Cadets with two blocks.
