JOURNAL GAZETTE

One of the area's top athletes has made his college choice, as Wayne three-sport star Craig Young announced on Twitter he's committed to Ohio State.

“I would like to thank all the college coaches that took the time to recruit me,” Young tweeted. “It has been a long process. Talking to my family, coaches and friends they are the ones that help me with the decision I’m making. Every since I was young I prayed and dreamed about this day coming. With all that being said I have committed to the Ohio State University!”

As a junior last season, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound Young had 29 receptions for 367 yards and four touchdowns for the Generals. He also rushed for 255 yards and two scores and had 27 tackles and three interceptions on defense.

In basketball, the All-Northeast Indiana all star averaged 17.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists. At the state track championships, he finished third in the 100 (10.58).

Young is is rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and the No. 8 prospect in Indiana. He chose Ohio State over Iowa, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan State.

He'll join fellow receiver and Bishop Luers graduate Austin Mack in Columbus.
