Adams Central's Brown dominates Bellmont in baseball


Adams Central's Kevin Brown struck out 14 and walked one in a 6-0 complete game win over Bellmont on Tuesday in Decatur.

Logan Macklin went 3 of 3 with two runs and two RBI to lead the Jets' offense.

Tyler Bauer went 2 of 4 for the Braves.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 7, HOMESTEAD 1: At Homestead, Zach Daugherty went 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run and Ian McCutcheon went 1 for 3, was walked once and scored twice for the Vikings.

Malik Wirges went 2 for 3 for the Spartans and scored the team's only run off Jack Roemer in the second inning.

Boys golf

BELLMONT 183, NORWELL 185, WAYNE 239: At Brookwood, Bellmont's Chance Bressler earned medalist honors with a nine-hole 43. Kade Zadylak's 44 led Norwell. Michael Redding's 54 was the top score for the Generals.

COLUMBIA CITY 171, WHITKO 217, CHURUBUSCO 239: At Eagle Glen, Columbia City's Spencer McCammon opened his season with medalist honors with a nine-hole 36. Kaleb Busz hit a 45 for Whitko and Wyatt Johnson led Churubusco with a 49.

DEKALB 172, GARRETT 193: At Bridgewater, Garrett's Levi Follett earned medalist honors with a nine-hole 37, one stroke ahead of DeKalb's Bailey Clark. Gabe Schenk shot a 39 for the Barons.

Girls tennis

CANTERBURY 3, WARSAW 2: Katie Davidson won for the Cavaliers at No. 2 singles 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 over Colette Smith, Carmen Gnagy defeated Warsaw's Taylor Shoaf 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Cavaliers' Priya Messa and Jenna Filus won 6-4, 6-3 over Rachel Boyle and Rachel Yeager.

Warsaw's Liza Lewis won 6-3, 6-3 over Samantha Becker at No. 1 singles and Ella Knight and Tigers' Alyssa Zellers won at No. 1 doubles over Jiya Kashyap and Lauren Kim 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

WEST NOBLE 4, WHITKO 1: At Whitko, the Chargers got wins from Megan Godfrey at No. 1 singles, Tori Miller at No. 2 singles, Tara Miller and Riley Kruger at No. 1 doubles and Katie VanVorst and Maria Guajardo at No. 2 doubles.

Whitko's Kayla Schipper won at No. 3 singles.


FAIRFIELD 7, CHURUBUSCO 1: At Churubusco, Mariah Hosted scored the lone run for the Eagles while Amanda Erwin and Madison Simmons each went 2 for 3.

SOUTH ADAMS 16, COLDWATER (OH) 8: At Coldwater, the Starfires scored 13 runs in the fifth inning. Isabella Ramirez went 2 for 5 with two runs, including one homer, and four RBI, Kayla LeFever went 4 for 5 with two runs and two RBI and Jenna Myers 3 for 4 with three runs and an RBI.

BISHOP DWENGER 14, DEKALB 4: At Bishop Dwenger, Victoria Fisher went 5 for 5 with three RBI and Emily Anglin hit two home runs for the Saints.

Gracey Yarian hit a home run for the Barons.
