New Haven football coach Jim Rowland has stepped down as head of the program, Bulldogs athletic director Andy Wagner confirmed Tuesday.

Rowland, 44, is exiting the high school coaching ranks to focus on his family and coaching his children.

He took over the Bulldog football program at age 27 and led the team to three sectional titles and a regional, with an overall record of 114-80. The record includes two 11-win seasons, including an 11-1 season in 2016.

The 2017 season ended with a 13-6 loss to Bishop Dwenger in the sectional semifinal.
