Harrell reaches 1,000 career points at PFW
ELIZABETH WYMAN | The Journal Gazette
Kason Harrell joined the Purdue Fort Wayne 1,000-point club on a first-half free throw in Wednesday night's 68-65 win over Akron.
"It feels great. I want to thank God for that accomplishment; he's really helped me come a long way from my freshmen year," Harrell said.
"I want to thank these guys. Without them I won't get 1,000 points. It's a huge blessing. I'm just more happy we got the win."
Harrell, along with fellow senior John Konchar, have been the backbone of this young Mastodon team all season. But Harrell's growth has been steady. As a freshman, he averaged 2.5 points. Now as a senior, he's averaging 15.8 points, just behind Konchar's 16.1.
He's shooting 44-percent on 3-pointers, which has opened up the lane for him to drive to the basket.
So far Harrell has stepped up as senior leader on the stat sheet and in the huddle.
