Indiana Tech baseball wins NAIA tournament opener

The Indiana Tech baseball team scored six runs in the top of the 10th to win 10-5 over Webber International in the NAIA Opening Round in Montgomery, Alabama on Monday.

With the score knotted at 4, the Warriors batted around in the 10th with rMatt Bandor, Tighe Koehring, Ryan Meisenheimer, Bobby Bennett, Daniel Johnson II and Dante Biagini scoring runs.

Despite two errors in the bottom of the inning, one of which resulted in a run by Chris Medina, Indiana Tech advanced to face the winner of Faulkner (Ala.) and Talladega (Ala.) at 2:30 p.m. today at Harrison Field.

The Warriors led 4-1 after seven innings. Bandor scored off a Glen McClain single in the first, Javier Castaneda homered in the fifth, McClain scored on a Meisenheimer sacrifice fly and Johnson scored on a Reese Olden bunt.

Webber International tied the game with three runs in the eighth on a Marcus Begg 3-run homer.

Jared Harvey earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of work, giving up one earned run on one hit, walking two and striking out one. Starter Jason Sterrett struck out two, walked three and gave up four runs on six hits in 7 2/3 innings.
