IPFW holds off Stetson

The IPFW men's basketball team won its 20th consecutive non-conference home game with an 88-84 win over Stetson at Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.
Stetson narrowed the Mastodon lead down to 85-84 with 42 seconds left but a Bryson Scott layup and a Jax Levitch free throw cemented the win with 7.5 seconds left.
The Mastodons (7-5) scored the first six points of the game and led 31-24 with 6:16 left in the first half.
The Hatters responded with a 23-9 run in the final 5:46 of the first half to go into halftime with a 47-40 lead.
IPFW opened the second half with a 19-4 run in 7:02 of play to take a 59-51 lead with 13:28 left to play.
A 9-0 gave Stetson a 60-59 lead with 12 minutes to play and it was tied at 63 and 65 before Scott made the go-ahead basket with 9:20 left.
Scott led all scorers with 34 points for the Mastodons, John Konchar added 17 and Xzavier Taylor 13. Jax Levitch had a career-high 12 rebounds.
Divine Myles scored 25 for Stetson, Abayomi Iyiola added 17, Christiaan Jones 12 and B.J. Glasford 11.
Next up, IPFW travels to Assembly Hall to face Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday.
