NBA coach drops Fort Wayne reference

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Poor Fort Wayne. Why are we the punching bag in NBA circles? But this one, at least, is just in good fun.

Sorry I’m late to this, but Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse was recently on “The Herd” talking about his ascension from G League coach to coach of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors, who tonight can clinch the NBA championship.

“A lot of us didn’t know who Nick Nurse was and now he’s on our TV in the NBA Final in Toronto,” host Colin Cowherd said on FOX Sports Radio.

And then Nurse, who coached the Iowa and Rio Grande Valley of the G League, said: “It’s just a smidgeon higher, Colin. It’s a little better than the Don Hall’s Guesthouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana.”

This was all in good fun, nowhere near worthy of the controversial inclusion of the Mad Ants in NBA 2K19.

Maybe Nurse just missed the buffet?

Thanks for the tip on this, Brian Coen.
