Stephan Hicks has moved in to third in the Mad Ants’ all-time scoring list.
He totaled 13 points tonight in the Mad Ants’ 115-110 loss to the Delaware Blue Coats, giving him 1,822 points. That puts him behind only Ron Howard (4,324) and Walker Russell (2,083).
Hicks surpassed C.J. Fair tonight.
But that was of little consolation to the Mad Ants on a night they, again, had their coach bemoaning a lack of effort from some of the players.
“Every single night is an opportunity for these guys to showcase their basketball skill and what they can do on the floor,” Gansey said. “They need to continue to embrace these opportunities and some guys didn’t embrace that and didn’t play hard for 48 minutes or just their minutes. Some games, you’re off offensively or the shots aren’t falling or are turning the ball over, but you can impact the game in different ways, too, especially on the defensive end.”
The defensive lapses are the biggest thing to me; I just continually see the Mad Ants get exploited in the paint and they usually are able to fix those problems. This season, they haven’t been able to, even if they have Alize Johnson and Ike Anigbogu in the lineup, and I’m starting to think that frustration is brimming to a point we could see personnel changes.
