Fort Wayne Champs includes Ants players

JOURNAL GAZETTE

The Fort Wayne Champs, a locally based team that competes annually in The Basketball Tournament, a single-elimination event with $2 million up for grabs, unveiled part of its roster Sunday and it’s led by Mad Ants star guard Walt Lemon Jr.

The roster will also include Mad Ants guard Trey McKinney Jones. Both Lemon and McKinney Jones made their NBA debuts this season with the New Orleans Pelicans and Indiana Pacers, respectively.

Lemon is a newcomer to the team, having previously played with a team of Bradley alumni.

According to Garrett Martz, the general manager of the Fort Wayne Champs, the Mad Ants’ Stephan Hicks will also be on the roster along with former Mad Ants players Sadiel Rojas and Travis Leslie.

The teams needs fan votes before June 1 to qualify for the tournament at www.thetournament.com/teams/fort-wayne-champs. Fan supporters can get a share of the winnings.

The Fort Wayne Champs reached the semifinals in 2015, when they were known as the Mad Ants Alumni team.
