JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Former Snider standout Reggie Hearn and Warsaw native Marshall Plumlee have been selected to play for the U.S. national team in the AmeriCup tournament that starts Monday in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Hearn, a 6-foot-4 guard, who played last season for the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Gatorade League, averaged 13.5 points and 5.3 rebounds and shot 44.2 percent from 3-point range.

Plumlee played 21 games last season with the NBA’s New York Knicks.

The 12-player U.S. team will be coached by former NBA coach Jeff Van Gundy.

The U.S. opens group play against Panama and will then play Uruguay and the Dominican Republic. If it wins its group, the semifinals will be Sept. 2 in Cordoba, Argentina.
