Ex-Irish OL signs richest deal
Former Notre Dame guard Zack Martin agreed to a six-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday that makes him the highest-paid guard in the history of the NFL, according to a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
The specific terms of the deal haven't been announced yet, but Rapoport reported that it will include the largest guaranteed amount ever given to a guard. To make Martin the highest-paid guard in league history, the deal will have to exceed that given to the Jaguars' Andrew Norwell in March, which was worth $66.5 million over five years.
Martin, 27, has been an All-Pro at guard in all four of his NFL seasons, including a first-team honoree in 2014 and 2016. The Indianapolis native was a first-round pick after starting 52 games for the Fighting Irish and becoming just the 18th player in Notre Dame history to be named a captain twice.
