Stewart rejoins Komets' blue line
JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette
Chase Stewart, the rookie defenseman who started the season with four goals and 11 points in 20 games for the Komets, has rejoined the team.
He had left the team Dec. 26 to play college hockey for Lakehead University. He appeared in six games and had an assist in Ontario University Athletics Association play.
Last season, Stewart, 21, played 63 games for Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and had five goals, 29 points and 132 penalty minutes in the regular season.
The Komets, who have won three straight games, lost goaltender Zach Fucale to a call-up to Chicago of the American Hockey League. It’s unknown if he’ll be back in time for the Komets’ next game, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cincinnati, Ohio. Brady Shaw, a forward, had been called from Fort Wayne to Chicago last week.
