There was a flurry of activity at the trade deadline for the Komets, who acquired defenseman Josh Elmes but traded forward Taylor Crunk.
Both moves were part of three-way deals that included the Rapid City Rush.
Elmes was acquired in a three-way deal with the Rush and Allen Americans. He had five goals and 19 points in 59 games this season for Rapid City, which sent him to Fort Wayne for forward Alex Rauter, who had come to the Komets to complete the an earlier trade that brought the Americans goaltender Lukas Hafner.
Crunk, who had two goals, three points and 126 penalty minutes in 40 games this season, was sent to the Orlando Solar Bears to complete the early season trade for Ryan Siiro, who is now longer with Fort Wayne.
Crunk was then packaged with Myles McGurty for Shaquille Merasty and will now play for Rapid City.
This was Crunk’s fourth season with the Komets. Crunk totaled four goals, 18 points and 318 penalty minutes in 118 games.
Earlier in the day, Fort Wayne got Phelix Martineau back from Laval of the American Hockey League, on the heels of the Komets losing Brady Shaw to Chicago of the AHL.
