Komets win 6-4 over Rapid City

Komets survived a late surge from Rapid City to win 6-4 at Memorial Coliseum on Friday.

Marco Roy scored after 15 seconds into the first to put the Komets up 1-0. Rapid City's Matt Caito evened the score with a shot from the edge of the net after 8:48.

Mason Baptista scored an unassisted goal from between the circles to put Fort Wayne up 2-1 after 17:50.

Ryan Lowney made it 3-1 after 5:56 in the second but Tyler Deresky tightened it up 3-2 after 18:59.

Cody Sol shot from the middle of the left circle to put the Komets up 4-2 after 1:33 in the third and Shawn Szydlowski added another after 3:42, deflecting a pass from between the circles to make it 5-2.

Kenton Miller and Riley Weselowski scored after 6:10 and 18:27 to cut the lead to 5-4 but Sol added an empty-net goal at 19:53 to secure the win.
